OHBM 2024: Innovative Minds and Dynamic Discussions in Seoul

This summer, Dr. Fesharaki and Dr. Kim visited Seoul, South Korea for the 2024 Annual Meeting for the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM). During its poster session, Dr. Fesharaki presented her recent research, titled Investigation of faulty CO2 chemosensing brain regions in epileptic patients with resting-state fMRI (OHBM2024 link).

Artemy, Minkyu, and Dr. Kim have travelled to Singapore for the 2024 International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) conference. While attending, Artemy presented his recent research, titled Shift-invariant linearity and spatial variation of the negative BOLD response in human with high spatiotemporal functional MRI.

It has been a year since Dr. Nooshin J. Fesharaki joined our lab as a Senior Research Associate. In recognition of her significant contributions to our lab's research, Dr. Fesharaki has been promoted to the position of Research Scientist. Her exceptional work has greatly impressed us, and we eagerly anticipate the groundbreaking achievements she will accomplish in her new role!

Dr. Danny Wang from the University of Southern California (USC) traveled across the country to visit our new lab at UTHealth Houston. With over two decades of dedication to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) research, Dr. Wang is a renowned expert in perfusion and functional MRI. During his visit, Dr. Wang also delivered a talk at the McGovern Medical School. Most importantly, he enjoyed the Texas BBQs he shared with us. Thank you for your visit, Dr. Wang!

A new beginning for our lab at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston!

Our laboratory has moved from Baylor College of Medicine to a neighboring institution in the Texas Medical Center: the University of Texas Health and Science Center at Houston. Concurrently, our Principal Investigator, Dr. JungHwan Kim, has been appointed as an Associate Professor at the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School. It's an excellent start to the new year!
